Aureus Medical Parent Company Recognized with Workplace Learning Award from ASTD

The parent company of Aureus Medical Group (web: aureusmedical.com), a nationwide leader in healthcare staffing, including travel nursing and travel therapy, has been recognized by the Nebraska chapter of ASTD (American Society for Training & Development) with the 2012 Leading Organization in Workplace Learning Award. C&A Industries, a leading staffing and recruitment firm, was honored for its professional development course, Pathways to Success. The curriculum honored by ASTD was developed by C&As in-house training and development staff for Aureus Medical employees.

ASTD is the world’s largest association dedicated to the training and development profession with more than 120 chapters across the United States. ASTD Nebraska is comprised of more than 350 members representing over 100 companies.

Pathways to Success is a course designed for employees of C&A and its affiliated firms, including Aureus Medical, who have a desire to become managers and leaders within the organization to help them reach their full potential. Participants are coached on a variety of topics and scenarios, including giving positive and negative feedback to peers and effectively engaging with colleagues at all professional levels. In addition to lecture, class activities include round-table discussion of assigned books, role play exercises, and analysis of excerpts from movies or other media.

The course is customized to align with the composition of the group. The curriculum recognized by ASTD was designed for team leaders within Aureus Medical, including account management and recruitment teams specializing in travel nursing jobs and travel therapy jobs. Participants met for 90 minutes weekly over 12 weeks.

The Pathways to Success course was initially developed 18 months ago in response to a request from a manager who was looking to enhance career pathing for her team, said Liz Hall, executive director of training & development, C&A Industries. Since then, it has been facilitated a number of times and has evolved into something that is becoming part of our culture. Weve seen positive results – employees are using the language we have referred to in class and are empowering themselves to take charge of situations within the workplace and assert themselves as leaders.
